The Koreans pay special attention to their skin and hair care. I have shown you in an older post (see here) a ten step Korean skin care routine. Now is the time to know their secrets for a healthy, soft and shiny hair. They pay special attention to the scalp, and consider the first step in getting a nice hair is adequate skin care. Also, their products are very effective, and many renowned brands have Korea as the source of inspiration.  Are you curious to know what is the Korean hair care routine? Here’s a 10-step ritual that will help you get the beautiful hair you dreamed of:

1. Scalp scalers

Exfoliation is extremely beneficial. You do it for your face to have a smooth skin, why do not you do it for your hair? Korean beauty experts say that keeping the scalp clean, healthy and exfoliated, we can allow hair to grow faster. Scalp scrub is a salicylic acid treatment that helps scalp exfoliating, removes dead skin cells and excess oils.

On dry hair, apply a sufficient amount to cover the whole scalp, then let it act as long as it is mentioned on the label. Depending on the formula, the time required for the product to act, differs. Rinse with water and wash your hair well with shampoo.

2. Shampoo

What can be so special in a shampoo? The way you apply it! There are special brushes for applying the shampoo. Not only will you get more foam, but you will be pampered with a very relaxing massage. Massage stimulates circulation and deeply cleanses hair, eliminating all traces of dirt, hair products, or dead skin cells. Use a shampoo to hydrate and balance the pH.

Secret Tip:

How to choose a shampoo to balance the pH, depending on your hair type:

  • For oily hair you can try a shampoo containing panthenol.
  • For dry hair with split ends, try a shampoo containing fatty alcohols such as cetyl alcohol
  • For dyed hair, opt for a shampoo with elements such as jojoba oil and vitamin E to maintain hydration

3. Conditioner

Remember that conditioner takes time to be absorbed. Do not apply it as a shampoo. Before applying the conditioner, be sure to remove excess water from your hair. Apply balm only on the underside of your hair, starting at the ends. Let it stand for at least 5 minutes before rinsing your hair.

4. Hair mask

Hair masks are treatments with a high content of substances designed to repair hair in depth. Once a week, replace the balm with a hair mask. After shampooing, apply the treatment on all hair and let it work for 15-20 minutes.

5. Rinse with vinegar

Maintaining an optimal pH on the scalp is very important if you want a beautiful hair. Problems such as dandruff, dry scalp or itching occur after a pH imbalance. Normal levels of pH on the scalp and on the skin are slightly acidic, between 4.5 and 5.5. To keep a balanced pH, it is recommended that once a week you rinse your hair with vinegar. Apple vinegar diluted in water, or other commodities, will leave your hair clean, soft and easy to comb.

6. Scalp mask

The structure of the scalp works in a different way from that of the hair, so it needs separate care. I recommend using the scalp mask with the hair mask, the two are designed for different parts of the hair, and you will save time. You can use it once a week. Let it act for about 10-15 minutes, then rinse hair as usual.

7. Scalp tonic

After you clean your face, you use a toner, don’t you? It is the same for hair. A tonic for the scalp is the equivalent of a toner and an excellent way to balance the pH. This step is designed to prepare the scalp for the next steps. After washing your hair, dry it with a towel and spray tonic over the scalp. Massage to facilitate absorption. There is no need to rinse hair or dry it.

8. Scalp serum

Well, as with the skin care ritual, the Koreans remain obsessed with moisture. Such a essence or serum has the role of moisturizing and soothing the scalp. Take a sufficient amount of serum in your hand and massage the scalp with it so that the substance is evenly distributed.

9. Essence or hair serum

Hair serum are designed to deliver a large amount of active ingredients to the hair, while a essence acts as a hair moisturizer. Put a sufficient amount on the hair, and massage to speed up absorption.

10. Overnight treatment

Once or twice a week apply overnight treatment. A hair mask left to act for a few hours is definitely a plus for your hair! Apply mask after following the steps above and leave it overnight. If your hair has an oily appearance in the morning, wash it off. If not, you can leave it until the next wash.

These are the 10 steps in korean hair care routine that will help you have gorgeous hair.
